Graduate Spotlight: UGA ARCS Foundation Scholars

The Atlanta chapter of the ARCS Foundation, Inc. has awarded $45,000 in fellowships to seven outstanding American doctoral students in the biomedical and health sciences at the University of Georgia.
UGA recipients of the award are selected through the UGA Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute. This year’s ARCS Scholars represent the UGA departments of cellular biology, biochemistry, psychology, neuroscience and pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences. More


Calling all Dawg fans! The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s 2nd annual Beat Tech Food Fight competition has begun. This year's goal is to collect 50,000 lbs of food before November 25. The Graduate Student Association is accepting abstracts for its 10th Annual Interdisciplinary Conference: Health and the Disciplines. All academic fields are welcome to participate. Abstract submissions are due by Jan. 15, 2010.
Doctorate candidates who have completed all doctoral work other than their dissertation are eligible for 2010-11 Dissertation-Year Visiting Fellowships. Five institutions in the Northeast are host campuses for visiting fellows. Further information is available from DiversityOnCampus.
The Graduate Students and Postdocs in Science will hold their second annual Science Career Symposium on Dec. 3 at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center. The free symposium provides professional advice for graduate students seeking a non-academic career path. More information is available on the GSPS website.
