National Research Council Assessment of the Doctorate Programs

The Graduate School hosted a workshop about the National Research Council’s Assessment of Research Doctorate Programs on Oct. 27, 2009 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Room K/L at the Georgia Center. The upcoming NRC report will provide a range of rankings of institutional doctoral programs.

Dr. Jaxk Reeves, faculty director of the UGA Statistical Consulting Center, discussed the methodology used to determine a program's range of rankings and how individual departments can best use the methodology to interpret their own data. All deans, department heads, graduate coordinators, interested faculty and administrators were invited to attend.

Dr. Reeves' presentation and handout about methodology and interpretation of the data can be reviewed for additional information. In addition to the Graduate School’s workshop, faculty interested further in the study’s methodology can access A Guide to the Methodology of the National Research Council Assessment of the Doctorate Programs, the complete methodology manual.

The National Research Council’s website dedicated to the research assessment is also a source of current information.
