Wednesday, August 07, 2013, 9:00-11:30 am Welcome from Dean Grasso
![]() Dear Incoming Graduate Student, August is almost upon us and we in the UGA Graduate School hope to see you soon in Athens, Georgia! New graduate student orientation will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the Athens Classic Center. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a planned program, during which you will receive information on topics important for graduate students. This session will be followed by the Information Fair. Information about travel to the Classic Center and parking can be found on this website. Please let us know if you plan to attend by registering here. There also is a brief survey that will be helpful as we plan activities for the coming year, as well as future admissions and recruitment activities. The Graduate Student Association has a short bus tour of Athens operated by Campus Transit leaving from the Classic Center after the Information Fair. This will be followed by a lunch reception for all new graduate students in the 4th floor rotunda of the Miller Learning Center. The orientation for graduate teaching and laboratory assistants will be on Thursday, August 8, in room 101 at the Miller Learning Center. Please contact Eddie Watson, edwatson@uga.edu or (706) 542-0534 with any questions. The orientation schedule is available on the CTL website. For information about departmental orientation activities, advisement, or registration, please contact your academic department. IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO ATTEND UGA, you may cancel your Fall 2013 application by sending an email request to gradadm@uga.edu with your full name and date of birth or last four digits of your identification number. If you need your admission moved to a future term, and have not previously requested a change in your matriculation date, please send an email request (before August 13) with your name and last four digits of your ID to gradadm@uga.edu, indicating the new requested term of matriculation. The department must reconsider your application and make a new decision on admissions when an application is moved, so you may want to consult them first. I look forward to seeing you at the Fall Orientation and Information Fair. Remember to check the Graduate School website for additional information about orientation activities at http://www.grad.uga.edu/orientation. Sincerely, Maureen Grasso, Dean |
